Yaroslav's Guestflight with the Virtual Blue Impulse

For a special experience, I invited Yaroslav (BR 30) to take a flight with the Virtual Blue Impulse. The guest flight took place on the 22nd December, 2012.

In less than 5 days, the team from Japan provided Yaroslav with all informations, he needed to take part in the 2012 High Show training sortie. Since Yaroslav is an experienced Left Wing pilot, we decided to place him on the Left Wing as #2. To get a slight feeling, how the guest flight is going to be, we took off in a 2-ship formations and I lead him through some turns, loops and rolls. A couple of very advanced briefings were required to go through the whole display. Teaching the specific theory of certain maneuevers was needed, so that Yaroslav can react to the leaders callouts and fly them all without any heastiation.

Guest from RUSSIA(ﾟ∀ﾟ)

After VFAT2012, we have received an offer, that Yaroslav from the VAT "Berkuts" would like to join our training.

The VAT "Berkuts" team kept training hard till the days of VFAT.
Their maneuvers, skill, team members, videos, and MOD developments, etc.. are world-class. They have a strong visibility of an virtual air demo team.

I'm glad to see such a team of great interest.


It's time to start the training.
Yaroslav speaks English with Russian accent and Sawa speaks English with German accent.
We used Sawa often as translator.
Yaroslav's voice is cool.
I felt, that the VBI has become more international.


I prepared an helmet, where his name is displayed. (*ﾟ▽ﾟ)ъ


He showed his stability in the formation right from the beginning.

He flew the Fan Break with 300ms ping. Great. (*ﾟ▽ﾟ)ъ


This is the positioning of the trail. He's very accurate when flying basic formations. It's proves, that he belongs to one of the top teams.

He did a good recovery in the inverted maneuver.


This is the line abreast roll, that Yaroslav was looking forward to perform.
For other teams, this maneuever is very symbolic.


He performed this roll with great precision.
He might be able to master this maneuver in a few training sessions.
It would be still to unstable, otherwise.


His skill of closing in distance is also great.


I say again: He is flying with 300ms ping!


The Star cross, that requires to fly on very precise flight parameters.
He nailed it by just two attempts.
That's great.

Since he didn't have enough information to cover this maneuever, he was a bit confused.
Once he gets more informations, how to fly this maneuver, he will be able to fly it perfect.

The first training sortie finished very quick.
